Our Story
We both grew up surrounded by art.
For Alex, that meant growing up in downtown Chicago, taking art classes, and immersed in a creative city. For Avery, it meant time in her mom’s elementary art classroom and her dad’s painting studio, where art was part of everyday life.
We met freshman year of college and connected in a winter printmaking class. From there, we both went on to study art history, and by senior year, we were designing and teaching a printmaking class for kids. We bonded over our shared love of art and our excitement for bringing it to others.
After college, our paths went in different directions. Alex went into business and earned her MBA. Avery became an educator, getting her PhD in special education and math.
Then, we both became moms.
We found ourselves wanting to bring art into our homes the way we experienced it as kids. At the same time, we kept hearing from other parents who wanted to do the same, but weren’t sure where to start.
That stayed with us.
We started thinking about how to make artmaking more inspiring and accessible for families.
So we created art boxes with carefully chosen materials, easy setups, and gentle guidance. Boxes that help grown-ups feel more confident, and give kids the space to explore and create.
So an art experience is always within reach.
